(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kwon Ji-hyun = Symphony Orchestra Symphony Song and conductor Ham Shin-ik announced on the 18th that they will hold the 'Masters Series' on the 30th of this month and the 16th of next month.

The performance on the 30th at Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul will feature works by Russian masters.

The program begins with Shostakovich's 'Festive Overture,' which offers a sense of dazzling energy, followed by a performance of Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2, which allows the audience to appreciate the pianist's technique, and concludes with Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5.

In particular, for this performance, pianist Kim Kyu-yeon will collaborate with Ham Shin-ik and Symphony Song for the second time, and is expected to portray the dramatic tension inherent in the work by demonstrating her characteristic concentration during the Prokofiev Piano Concerto.

On the 16th of next month, Verdi's "Requiem" will be performed at the Seoul Arts Center, a production co-planned with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Korean War and the 70th Memorial Day.

Four vocalists—soprano Oh Mi-sun, mezzo-soprano Kim Sun-jung, tenor Kim Dong-won, and bass-baritone Samuel Yoon—will participate to deliver a magnificent and moving performance over the accompaniment of Symphony Song.

Symphony Song stated, "With the participation of officials from various international organizations and embassies, this will be an occasion to express gratitude to domestic and international heroes who dedicated themselves through the universal language of music, and to reaffirm solidarity."
